Jonathan has worked at Cardiff University for 27 years. He is Interim Director of the new Centre for Adult Social Care Research (CARE), currently being set up with a £3m grant from Health and Care Research Wales. While setting up this new centre, he is stepping away from his usual role as Deputy Director of CASCADE, the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre.

For Health and Care Research Wales, he is also co-speciality lead for social care research and a Senior Research Leader. He is a registered social worker and facilitates a weekly men’s group at a mental health charity. In a recent analysis of academic impact in the social work field, based on citations in peer-reviewed journals, he was ranked #41 in the World.
